Best camera phones in the world – January 2018
Choosing the Best camera phones in the world is surely not a difficult thing to do as there are only 3 to 4 companies that share this title among themselves every year. In the year 2018 too, there is no new entrant to stand tall against these established champs.
We have made the list of Best camera phones in the world by considering only the camera quality and camera performance. We have not taken into account its general performance or price. So let’s jump into the list of Best camera phones in the world
1. Apple iPhone X
We have seen dual 12MP cameras on the iPhone 7 and 8 plus. The iPhone X comes with similar 12MP dual cameras out of which one is a wide lens and the other is a telephoto lens. The wide-angle lens comes with f1.8 lens whereas the telephoto lens comes with an updated new f/2.4 lens with optical image stabilization.
Camera interface on the iPhone X is optimized carefully. You get all the options in your fingers reach. You can choose an auto mode or go for a fully manual mode where you can change almost all the settings like you need.
The lens manufactured by Sony works like a charm in all the lighting conditions. iPhone X produces images with a good amount of details and is sharp enough to use them for social media sharing or projects. Apple iPhone X’s close challenger was Google Pixel 2 XL that lost the battle for the Best camera phones in the world by a small margin.

2. Google Pixel 2 XL
If you are a photographer or a camera geek, then you know the autofocusing system used by Canon on their cameras. Canon calls their autofocusing system as dual-pixel autofocus and surprisingly Google adopted a same type of technology on their Pixel 2nd generation cameras.
Instead of going for a fancy dual-camera setup, Google decided to go with the tried and tested single camera setup. Google Pixel 2 XL comes with a 12.2MP primary camera with f1.8 lens and tons of other features. It has dual-pixel autofocus, Optical Image Stabilization+ Electronic Image Stabilization, laser autofocus and a dual-LED flash. The autofocus performance is great for a small mobile camera.
The portrait mode on Pixel 2 XL produces some good looking blurry background images. In this mode, the dual-autofocus detects what is to be focused and some software implemented by Google, make the background blur.
At the front, you will get an 8MP camera that is good for selfies but not as good as the one on the iPhone X.

3. Google Pixel 2
If you are looking for a phone with good camera and cool design, then this one is not for you. I was very disappointed with the design of the phone. The long bezels in 2018 do not make sense. But when I turned on the camera of this small kid, I was blown away. Google Pixel XL is a smaller version of Pixel 2 XL with a $100 less. So I thought there will be some changes in the camera quality. But I was wrong. It comes with all the features that Pixel 2 XL contains.
I don’t have to explain about its camera performance as it produces the same quality images as its bigger brother XL. Only on some occasions, Pixel 2 XL produced some detailed images. Except that, everything is same.
4. LG V30
Here comes the most underrated mobile brand of all time. LG’s flagship mobiles always came with great camera sensors, especially the V series. Every year, they ranked among the top 5 but they could not be as popular as iPhones or Samsung’s S or Note series phones.
If you are somebody who loves shooting indoor photos, then LG V30 is the phone for you. This phone comes with the widest aperture lens put on a smartphone, that is f/1.6. This may not make a huge difference when compared to f/1.7 but reaching more light to the sensor is always better.
Speaking of the camera features, V30 comes with a dual camera setup out of which one is a 16MP with aperture f/1.6 and Optical Image Stabilization and a 13MP f/1.9 lens. To improve the autofocus capability, it features a laser autofocus system.
The V30 produces great images in all the lighting conditions. You have full control over your camera, means you can set everything based on the lighting situations. When most of the competitors chose to go with 12MP sensors, LG went ahead with 16MP sensors. The result is detailed and sharper images. With all these LG V30 easily made it to the top 5 of Best camera phones in the world.
5. Samsung Galaxy Note 8
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 had to be the best phone in the market for Samsung as the Note 7 was a disaster. Every year, Samsung phones featured in the top 3 list but sadly, this year they could not make it. Even though Samsung introduced their new and first dual-camera set up in their Note 8, they were not as good as others on this list.
Best beginner’s camera
Samsung Galaxy Note 8 comes with a dual-camera 12MPsetup. The one is a Sony IMX 333, which is tried and tested on it’s S series and is a very capable one and the other is a 12MP telephoto lens with f/2.4 aperture.
It comes with all the features you expect for this price like Optical Image Stabilization, Phase detection autofocus LED flash, 4k, etc.
Coming to the image quality, in the bright daylight, the images look good with plenty of detail and almost no noise. As we all know, Samsung uses AMOLED displays so the images look punchier. But when you transfer it to other phone or view it on a computer display the color may not be so appealing. The color saturation software adds some extra colors that may disappoint some. The OIS used in the Note 8 helps you take stable shots in the low light situations.
As we said at the beginning, we chose the Best camera phones in the world by its camera quality and camera results. We have not considered its performance, other hardware specifications or price.
Hi this is somewhat of off topic but I was wondering if blogs use WYSIWYG editors or if you have to manually code with HTML. I’m starting a blog soon but have no coding knowledge so I wanted to get guidance from someone with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
